Henry grew up in Taiwan after his ancestors (Yong-Chan Liaw) moved to Taiwan from Fujian China in Ming Dynasty with Zheng Cheng-Gong 1661. During the Qing Dynasty (1800), Henry’s great grandfather (Wan-An Liaw) went back to Beijing from Taiwan, to attend the Emperor’s official tests held in the Forbidden City. During his trips, he was able to bring back porcelain antiques and ancient jade. This began the family collection and has become a family Heirloom from generation to generation.
At a young age, Henry became passionate about Chinese history. To understand Chinese culture in different dynasties, for the past 40 years Henry has been collecting Chinese jade, porcelain, and coins that go back as far as 7000 years.
Later, Henry has been traveling around the world, and learned from several old masters, he has the opportunity to get hand-on experience and knowledge of porcelain and jade
In addition to collecting and dealing Chinese antiques, Henry is a certified appraiser and been tested and certified as an Appraiser by the Certified Appraisers Guild of America (CAGA). He can provide you with a written appraisal report for estate and gift appraisals, charitable donation appraisals, bankruptcy appraisals, insurance appraisals, appraisals for divorce and casualty loss appraisals. Henry has graduated from the Missouri Auction School and a licensed auctioneer in St. Louis and the State of Missouri.
Truly a wonderful collection. I will come back again and buy more.
